"The Price of the Pig" is an Irish double jig in 6/8 time and G Major/E minor.<br> The parts are played AABB.<br> "The Price of the Pig" is contained in the latter 19th century music manuscript collection<br> of fiddler Patrick O'Farrell, of Ballinamuck, County Longford. Researcher Conor Ward<br> finds cognate melodies in the James Goodman manuscript as "The Dougarry Boys" and in<br> Books 3 and 5 of County Leitrim piper and fiddler Stephen Grier's c. 1883 music<br> manuscript as an untitled jig.<br> One version of a double jig known as "King of the Pipers"<br> (different from the one in this collection) is a similar tune.<br> The similarly-titled "The Price of My Pig" is a different tune.<br> I found this on-line but have not yet tracked down a printed reference.<br>
